Feature Friday! Tessa Eichelberger: Strong Poss-Abilities

I was out and about at the Celebrate the Valley fair in Granby a few weekends ago and there was one booth that jumped out at me. It was called Strong Poss-Abilities. It reminded me of my blog Finding Abilities! Read below about Tessa and this great new training facility available to individuals with special needs. -Lisa

By Tessa Eichelberger

I am Tessa. I am the Owner and Master Trainer at Strong Poss-Abilities Inc. Strong Poss-Abilities, Inc. is a 501c3 non-profit organization established to work with special needs young adults. Our vision is to create a space that empowers and develops athleticism for the special needs and disabilities community. I am a National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM) Certified Personal Trainer with a concentration in special needs training. It has been a passion of mine to provide individual training, nutrition counseling, and life skills adaptive coaching to those in the special needs community.

When did you start your business?

I started in August of 2021. Strong Poss-abilities started off as an in home personal training service but we are excited to announce that we will be moving into our first studio October 22!

What was your inspiration?

My friend Jonathan and I always talked of opening a training studio specifically for those in this community to give them the outlet they need and deserve. While there are plenty of services for children, young adults and adults lack a facility to train for events like the Special Olympics or exercise in general. We wanted to help with that. Unfortunately, Jonathan passed away from Cancer in 2020. I have made it my mission to help make this dream a reality.

What products or services do you offer?

Currently we offer 1-on-1 personal training sessions in 30 minutes, 45 minutes and 60 minute packages. We also offer nutritional counseling, assisted stretching and life skills coaching. Once the studio opens we hope to offer group classes as well.

What three things would. you like the readers to know?

1) I run on love, that’s what this community is all about. Love each other, love what you do, love who you are and love where you are.

2) This community has always felt like one I belonged in but now that I have a special needs child myself, I understand so much more.

3) I was raised by musicians so music is a huge part of my life and I like to bring that into my sessions as well. I use music to motivate, to soothe, to excite, and to ground.

Come and join us at our Grand Opening Saturday October 22nd! We’d love to meet you!
